Build log
Overview
Iris is a wearable camera, worn as a necklace, that continuously captures your life as you see it. It takes a picture every minute and acts as an external memory, helping you remember and reflect on your experiences with clarity.
The app enables you to set goals for yourself, and Iris will send you a notification on your phone if you deviate from your set goal.
Implementation
Iris uses the seeed studio ESP-32 S3 to continuously take photos and sends them to the Iris mobile app via Bluetooth. The Iris app processes the image via GPT-4-vision and embeds the image as well as its AI-generated description in a vector store.
Iris' design was inspired by the nazar amulet, common in Middle Eastern and Asian regions, which protects the wearer from the "evil eye."
Inspirational Reach
Advait presented Iris at the Human Augmentation Summit. His post on Iris reached nearly 900k views on X.
Acknowledgments
We thank Dünya for mentoring this project, especially in exploring interactions and research directions. We also thank Keunwook Kim, who has aided Advait in the ideation process and hardware design.
