Overview
A fictional Wikipedia article set twenty years in the future, chronicling the rise of open-source wearable AI. Within months of writing, real projects — ADeus, Friend, The Owl Project — began catching up to the fiction, far ahead of schedule.

The following essay is a fictional Wikipedia article set 20 years in the future, discussing advancements in wearable AI systems, with a particular focus on open-source projects.
Since writing this essay in late January/early February 2024, several open-source wearable AI projects have been developed, including ADeus, Friend, and The Owl Project. The pace of development has surprised even us, and we are excited to see the visions we imagined in this essay come true, possibly much faster than in 20 years!
Our essay was submitted to MIT's Envisioning the Future of Computing essay competition and was awarded an honorable mention and $1,000 in prize money.
